This will be my first blog post. I want to use this medium to document my journey and share my perspective as a creative and Studio Executive. I hope my journey inspires someone at the corner who is trying to figure things out.
Now to the topic of this post, this year is moving up fast, with so many things happening in the country as we are preparing for the elections. As a creative, this can have some adverse effects on you mentally. Nonetheless, I am eager to get on set and deal with the crew and actors. I can’t wait to light scenes, direct actors and put what’s on paper on the screen. I am so eager; I just want to do it.
I was getting paranoid and I needed to take some time for reflection, I realised that no matter the level of my eagerness to hit the location, I cannot afford to rush the project. If it’s going to be done, it has to be done properly.
The project I want to work on involves a lot of research to deliver realism on screen. The script has to be very good, with no compromise.
I need to cast right, make sure the set is built right and most importantly stay within budget.
This highlights one important thing I almost took for granted… Preproduction. Preproduction is very Important. If we get it right, we will inevitably have a great time shooting and great footage to edit.
My rounding thought is this, I am not saying you should take time and sleep on the project and wait for the perfect time. There is no perfect time, make it happen, but don’t rush it because you just want to hit location…take production stills and all the razzmatazz. Yes, there is no major razzmatazz during preproduction but that’s the place the major work gets done to set the project on the right path.
P.S. My latest Project, Season two of Family Sitcom Birds of a Feather is currently running on NTA Network at 6:30 pm every Sunday.

We are still working on PostProduction though… but I am restless to get on the next project… Life of a Creative isn’t it?
Pals, I wish you success in your next creative venture. Till my next post… Stay Creative.

This is beautiful Oluwaseun.
Thanks for the emphasis on Pre-Production.
It is actually most important but a lot of people do not pay adequate attention to this foundation to achieve a great production.
You could however kindly itemise the activities essential to be carried out in this phase of the process bro.
Gracias.
